Arancini that's all that need to be said. Thank you for a trip back down memory lane remember the food I ate in Italy!!
Luigi is the best, personable, kind and sharp!
He runs the show!
Best pizza and pasta!
This place will bring out your nostalgia. Our order was hand written down by Luigi word for word, he had good jokes and when he brought out our pizza he served us our first slices!
We were there before closing, watched him interact with his employees and clean tables himself.
Life tip: be more like Luigi
Had the best pizza here today! Love this place and Luigi hands down is the nicest guy around!!
Fabulous wonderful food. Homemade deliciousness
I've been going to Luigi's place since I was a little kid at the Daly City location. Unfortunate that location closed down years ago but so glad he still has his other location in Pacifica. Finally had a chance to go visit the Pacifica location and it was so great to see that Luigi is still working as hard as he normally does. When I go I always have to buy the Luigi Balls (Rice Balls). Those are the best with extra meat sauce. I can't stay away from those. I even ordered some to go. The rice balls are full of rice, meat and peas that are deep fried and then sits in meat sauce when served. The crunchiness w the meat sauce makes it all yummy. I would totally recommend trying them if you haven't yet done so.
Great food...generous positions. Please add an IPA to your beer selection!
The best eggplant parm you can find!
Ate hear 5 years ago on a previous vacation to the Bay Area and wanted to return since we stay in Pacifica.
Decor-very outdated and some what dungeons feeling. Plenty of room to eat and very nice people around.
Service-very slow moving. Luigi is probably 95 yrs. old now and his helper though much younger, not very fast. Luigi is great though, he saw our order was not coming and kept bringing us garlic bread. He's a great guy.
Food-ordered pizza and it was good. Nothing overly great, but tasty. Should've ordered rice balls, but we were trying not to eat too much.
Tip-bring lots of patience and order rice balls, you appreciate you did. Also, take some inspiration from Luigi, he's a very nice hard working man.
This is perfect Italian family style place.
We were met and greeted by the owner, the place has very good positive vibe.
I discovered Luigi's when going to Family Room Community Acupuncture in the same tiny shopping center. The wonderful smells of garlic and pizza lured me in. Now we're among the many regulars and usually go there after a hike on the local trails.
Luigi works the tables even though he's probably well over what most of us would consider retirement age; of course, he looks much younger (OK, don't let it go to your head, now) -- must be that Italian blood. He almost always takes our order. And I think he could outrun me.
The food is very basic (as is the dcor, which is pretty much old cottage-style Italian American). But the food is tasty and real. In fact, they get the veggies fresh from the local (Serramonte) farmer's market. I usually order manicotti but sometimes branch out. The lasagna is great too, as is the marinara and meat sauce. And the minestrone. And the very yummy fresh garlic or cheese bread that comes complementary with entrees. Wines are pedestrian (I always just get Merlot). Many folks rave about the rice balls.
Really, what makes Luigi's is Luigi. He tells very funny stories and makes everyone feel like family. And he's accommodating. Once, when an MLB playoff went like 16 innings, Luigi let everyone stay until the game was over. And he doesn't give a rat's a** about baseball.
Luigi is also beloved as a generous contributor to the local community. His restaurant is a place where you can feel the heart and soul.
Come here if you want a traditional, Italian home cooked meal. Don't come expecting to have a server at your table because the owner, Luigi himself, is the waiter for each table. He is very nice and starts conversations with everyone. The spaghetti and ravioli is amazing and covered with a delicious meat sauce. The one downside is the restaurant gets very warm throughout the year, which sucks during the summers. However, the food is worth the heat. Most people do take out orders.
The Rice Balls are absolutely amazing. Great pizza, and good Italian. Luigi is the sweetest old man. Come here if you want a super casual, but super tasty meal.
Great food. Great service.
The owner is so nice - we will definitely come back!
Lasagna gets 5 stars.
great food ????????
Luigi's was such a great experience. It's a low-key place with amazing food. You have to order the rice balls as an appetizer. I had the chicken cannelloni and it was delicious. Luigi, the owner, is so sweet. He is such a nice man that has poured his heart into this place. Don't expect any frills - the place is off the beaten path and a bit run down but who cares? The food and service is stellar. Don't go out and pay $$$$ for wannabe Italian - Luigi's is the real deal. Luigi talked to my husband and me about his memories in Italy. His passion for this place is real and it shows.
The five stars is for Luigi. This place is very low key, very simple setting with no frills. Luigi was very warm and welcoming to me and my family (we were visiting from out of town) and was constantly checking with us to make sure we were happy. He kept walking around the restaurant chatting with each table, so it's obvious he cares about his relationships with customers, who all call him by name. I am reading a lot of mixed reviews here about the food, but I can tell you I really enjoyed the meal, which was quite affordable as well. It isn't fancy or anything but it feels like a homemade Italian meal, and Luigi takes a lot of pride in his homemade sauces. He is a great, kind old guy and I am thankful for his hospitality.
Our family loves Luigi's. It is always my son's choice when we go out to dinner in Pacifica. We moved out of the area, but every time we return to California, we visit Luigi's!

I love eating at Luigi's. Very friendly staff and excellent Italian food. Very homey feel to the location. Would highly recommend for a causal, relaxing Italian meal!
Family friendly place. Great service and great food. Luigi is such a nice guy... it is always nice seeing him whenever we go to this place. Very friendly and accommodating... if you're looking to eat a nice Italian food then better try this place out of you are in the area and you'll never regret it.
Luigis is a place that has great food - but when you order in you have to have a little patience. Their pasta sauce is great and it goes on everything in the restaurant! I would recommend getting the eggplant Parmesan, it is the best that I have had, keep in mind I don't eat a lot of Italian food out however.
The decor in the restaurant could definitely use an upgrade, and the acoustics of the room make your conversations echo. You feel very exposed eating here, but the kind staff and friendly owner make you feel welcome so none of this bothered me.
I have heard good things about their pizza and look forward to trying it. Their rice balls are also a very unique and tasty appetizer.
We've lived in Pacifica for almost 20 years & didn't discover Luigi Restaurant until recently- Now we go there almost once per week. It's been difficult over the years finding good restaurants in Pacifica, affordable, consistently good, with Luigi the owner personally making sure his customers are happy. All dishes we've had have been great- the bread is so good, we have to order a double serving. We'll miss you Luigi for a couple of weeks while you're visiting the old country. Christian
great pizza. the crust and sauce is fabulous. just wish they weren't closed on tuesdays.
Great prices! Best pizza in Pacifica!
Luigi's is the best pizza in town and the chicken Parmesan is great as well the salads and veggies and the spaghetti and meatballs as well are all good! Luigi himself makes you feel like one of the family. I have supported this restaurant since it opened and will continue to do so.
Luigi's has the best pizza in town, and you can't beat Luigi, who is the nicest guy you could ever meet.
Great pizza, and Luigi is a fantastic person! My Band just had a fundraiser there, and Luigi gave us 20% of everything he made that night, unlike the other pizza places we tried, that gave 20% of the profit from the people that mentioned our band. Luigi rules!!!! And he is really nice to my little brothers. He once gave them free icy pop things!
Great little neighboorhood joint. Have only had the pizza and the chicken parm sandwich, but have had quite a few. The pizza, definately gets loaded with toppings which is important for me. Only complaint is a few times have had to finish cooking it (I like mine well done). The chicken parm was smallish but at 5 bucks you cant go wrong.
love this place, great pizza, service is very good and prices are really good .and the owner, luigi, is pretty cute.
We love Luigi's! We always have found the food to be great and Luigi is the best. It's a good place to take the family for reasonably priced, tasty food.
It is a rainy dull day. I called Luigi, he delivered the best dinner ever! The Rigotini, Meat Sauce, Rice Balls, Pizza, French Bread were excellent! Beyond my expectations. Dessert, cannoli's are so delicious. He provides the full Italian meals. Reminds me of Little Italy NY and Italy! Doesn't get any better than this! Viva La Luigi!
absolutely, love this place! The food is amazing and Luigi is a sweetheart. My husband is a pizza fiend and we went just to try that, but daringly, we tried the rice balls. Love at first bite. Their meat sauce is to die for! We are now at least once a week regulars. The pizza is great, the spaghetti is awesome, ceasar salad is good, garlic bread rocks. We always love to support local businesses and this is one we will keep going to.
We had a great dinner tonight. We started off with the rice balls and minestrone soup. Fantastic!! Garlic bread came with everything and that was great. I ordered the meat ball and spaghetti and that was great. My wife had the egg plant parmigiani. She couldn't stop raving how good it was. The service was very good and the waiting time to get our food was just right. We had no complaints on anything including the price which was very reasonable. We recommend this place for the quality and qauntity of food for a very reasonble price.
I don't care what anyone else says...Luigi's is where it's at for italian food! It always smells sooooooo good and garlicky in the restaurant. They have the best, housemade gnocchi ever and Luigi is such a friendly guy! Make sure to stop by when you're in the vicinity, you won't be disappointed! Whenever I come home from college this is the first place I go to!
Our monthly dinner group landed at Luigi's this month, on the tip of a friend of mine. There were 24 of us (!) and they lined us up at 4-tops alllll the way down the center of the room. Luigi himself waited on us - all of us, all by himself. It took a while, but everyone in our party got to interact personally with the VERY charming owner of the joint, and he was a treat. It was a really positive experience for everyone, one of our favorite events!
Here's the thing about Luigi's: It's not fancy. Literally plastic grape leaves on the walls, and linoleum floors. It's probably not the best place for a really large group, though they did very well by us. But the food, oh my goodness, was really really good. I hope to get back there, and soon. I want to try every single thing on the menu - everything looked and smelled and tasted so good!
Luigi's is the best. It is a great family restaurant. The food is great and very affordable. Luigi is always there, working hard and making sure everything runs smoothly. I definitely recommend this place!
Wow, talk about old-fashioned CUSTOMER SERVICE!! We've been ordering both pick-up and delivery for years, about once a week and the food is tasty and healthy as they serve steamed veggies with my canneloni. A few weeks ago, our food arrived at our house with one of the entrees missing. I looked at the bill and they didn't charge me for it so they must have missed my entree over the phone since they didn't repeat my order before I hung up. I was bummed, and just wanted to call and let them know as an FYI, and was planning to find something else to eat in the house. To my pleasant surprise, the guy on the phone said "What did you order? I'll send it right over to your house, no charge." What??! Wow! I told him what was missing, sadly thinking it wasn't going to arrive in time for me to be able to eat with my family. No joke, about 10 minutes later the food arrived at my door. Double tip for the delivery guy, and everyone was happy! Thank you, Luigi's!!
My boyfriend and I recently had dinner at Luigi's in Pacifica and the food was authentic and perfect! We ordered a few things to share and everything was wonderful. I was curious about the "Rice Ball" so we started with that, and WOW, so so good! We also ordered the Minestrone Soup... by far the best Minestrone Soup I have EVER had. Our favorite part of the meal was the Eggplant Parmigaina though, it was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. We were so full when we left we didn't get a chance to try the pizza but we will be back... thanks Luigi!
This place is great. My family went there for my mother's birthday and had a great experience. Luigi actually was the one who brought us all the food and he was wonderful. The food was excellent and tasted like authentic Italian. When Luigi found out it was my mothers bday he brought her a free desert and then brought us all free mud pie. We ate family style and ordered 5 other dishes and we were all completely full. Luigi only charged us $75. We had a giant bowl of minestrone soup, a huge salad, 2 plates of pasta with red sauce, fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, three orders of eggplant Parmesan and an order of meat cannelloni. I plan on going back... the food was great and I love supporting neighborhood restaurants.
Luigi's is GREAT! We knew as soon as we entered this was a REAL italian place since smelled just like my father-in-law's kitchen when he used to make his red sauce and meat balls. GREAT prices too! We've enjoyed dinner there and you'll frequently see Luigi helping out clearing tables and talking to customers. They also deliver. We ordered food for big family get together of 40 people. They delivered Lasagna, ravioli, meat balls, salad and garlic bread. All arrived fresh and were a HUGE hit with the hard core Italians in the family!
this is a great place to go to, i do miss the south city branch, but the food is still delicious as it can be, i love the pastas, pizzas and even the fried rice ball stuffed with a meatball, i'll be back soon ok, good food luigi!
I have only had their pizza and the chicken cannelloni and both were delish! Sometimes the service can be a little slow but it's not a life or death situation that I get my order taken the second I step in the door...
Visiting Pacifica from So. Cal. Found Luigi's on yelp and decided to try it out. Walked in and were actually seated by Luigi himself. It was a Friday night around 7 pm and got seated right away. Within 15 min the place was filled with locals. Very casual. Saw lots of to-go orders & pizza being taken out. We ordered the rice ball however we weren't as impressed with it as all the other yelpers. Ordered meat lasagna, linguini Alfredo w/ chicken, linguini w/ clams and an individual cheese pizza. All the food was delicious. Definitely would go back. One server in the entire restaurant. Good thing we weren't in a hurry because since we ordered a pizza our food order was delayed. That was fine with us because we weren't in a hurry. The server was apologetic throughout our stay. I definitely recommend going here for very good Italian food in a VERY casual environment. Prices were very reasonable.
By far, the best Italian restaurant that delivers. Plus prices that are so reasonable. My wife's favorite is the Manicotti which is $9.95 I love their pizzas, especially their pizza that are on special each month. For dessert you really ought to treat yourself to one of their homemade Cannoli's at $3.95, it can't be beat. Of course, price is subject to change, but this is a family owned and operated business.
Four stars for Luigi's pizza! The crust and sauce are great. And they make my favorite veggie pizza (mushroom, olive, garlic) just the way I like it --reminds me a little of Pasquale's ( yelp.com/biz/VyvrQn7j_Yf ) back in the day.
Last Friday after hitting the Peter Max opening ( yelp.com/biz/1lQ2TgnKHIj ) at the de Young I went by and they were closing but Luigi himself offered to make me a pie just because I showed up hungry.
Grazie mille Luigi!
After nearly 2 years of going by this place, I finally had one of their pies. I was super impressed with the sauce. The crust was also very nice, thin and crisp, not floppy. The toppings were quality, we had mushrooms and pepps.
I love Luigi's RICE BALLS!....and pizza...and ummmm everything! They are sooooo yummy!!! And who doesnt love a trip into Pacifica? The owner is always so nice and treats everyone like family!!!! YAY LUIGI!!!
We moved close to Luigi's and have ordered several pizzas for delivery over the past year. They've always been pretty good pizzas and prompt delivery. I recently ordered a half-a-pan of meat lasagna for a small party. I picked up the lasagna, and got to speak with Luigi and the the woman who actually made the lasagna - both were extremely kind and appreciative of my business. I had read many of the Yelp reviews and saw either 5-stars or 1-2 stars, but figured I'd give the lasagna a try. It was delicious!! Everyone I served thought it was excellent, even my picky 4-year old daughter liked it. I don't know why the yelp reviews are so hot or cold ... but as far as pizza delivery and now lasagna orders they are awesome and reasonably priced. No doubt I'll be ordering again.
Great food, great food, and Luigi is the best! I am from the East Coast, and in my opinion, this is the best pizza I've had out here and the closest to the style I really enjoy.
Luigi is the man!
His food is pretty good for the price. And for the area it's tough to beat.
It's all about the sauce, so Pizza, Pastas with meat sauce etc. are pretty tasty. He was telling us about a monday Fixed Price menu. I haven't had time to take up is offer though.
I'd rate it 3.5 star but i bumped it up for him. Last time we ordered some ravioli's. He ran out of those disposable pans and lent us real ceramic plates! He told my in-laws to return them whenever. Thats some laid back Pacifica peoples!
Neat little place with great food and friendly service. Rice balls were superb. Linguini with clams wigh white cream sauce was perfect. Enjoy
The SSF restaurant closed - so sad - we have not gone to the Pacifica restaurant but assume the food would be the same since Luigi is cooking there. We love Luigi's but usually only order the pizza, rice balls or spaghetti dinner with meatballs because his red sauce IS THE BOMB. We try to order ahead and give them plenty of time to prepare because schools, scouts or other large organizations usually order from him. Many times, we pick up and bring it home unless we have lots of time to dine in. From 1999-2009, we found Luigi and his staff to be energetic, friendly and quick. Now, that magic is dissipating and needs help. Stick with the pizza, rice balls or spaghetti and you won't go wrong.
I took a group of seven people from Sacramento to Pacifica last weekend. We hit Linda Mar beach and wanted something to eat besides the Taco Bell located on the beach. We found this place in our brochure from the Visitor's Center and decided to check it out being Italian lovers. The staff was great. The food was amazing. You could tell it was a real family place and there was pride in the cooking. We had pesto spagetti, garlic lovers pizza, alfredo tortellini, and more and everything was great. Got out the door for $55 before tip which was really fair for that many people. We will defnitely be back next time we come to Pacifica.
Went here a lot as a kid when the Westborough location still existed, I loved going to Luigi's! Recently went to the Pacifica location and the food and customer service is still as great as I remember. Definitely try the Rice Balls & Seafood Pizza! Keep it up Luigi, love your food & your location, even if it is a little farther than home, its worth it!
I've eaten here a few times and I must say, this is the best that Pacifica has to offer. There's not much around here and even fewer places that deliver. This place may not be that 5-star French restaurant in San Francisco where you pay $75 a plate and it comes out amazing every time, but it's not too shabby.
I have to start out with the rice balls. Each one is about the size of a tennis ball and packed with goodness. That's all I really have to say, these things are just amazing. +1 for them alone.
The pizza is great. I order it crispy and it comes out just right. Luigi's dough tastes like the kind my mom used to make: just a few ingredients with no preservatives and nothing fancy; just the way it should be. Definitely better than whatever else you can get around here, and for less money as well!
The pasta is pretty good also. I'm a big fan of their meat sauce. There's no pork in it (which kind of bums me out) but it's still great. Their pesto sauce is pretty good also. Each order comes with a fairly large serving of pasta along with an adequate amount of sauce to satisfy. Overall, pretty good. I'm also a big fan of the meat lasagna, just saying.
Their soup is really good. The minestrone tastes fresh and the chicken noodle soup isn't too shabby either.
The sandwiches are average. I like getting them to go when I'm in a hurry.
No review would be complete without a skeptic, so I have to pick something I don't like about this place. I don't care for their seafood and by the taste of it, I don't think anyone likes making it either. I tried the roasted chicken dinner once and it was very dry. The desserts are hit and miss, sometimes they're great, sometimes they're a bit soggy and sometimes they're a tad frozen. I guess it just depends on the day. Now, with the skeptic in place, I have to say that no restaurant is perfect and people aren't going to like everything on every menu. Give them a chance and see for yourself.
One last note on the service and delivery: The service can be slow at times, it's a small place and there aren't many people working there. A lot of times I've been there it's just been only Luigi himself waiting tables. Some of the other waitresses there aren't as attentive as they could be and there have been several times I've had to go ask for my check.
The delivery can take a long time or a very short time. On the phone they tell you "45 minutes" but I've had it as short as 20 minutes and as long as an hour and a half. The guy must get flooded with orders a ways out at times and that's where the delay comes from. Also, make sure that you give them your phone number when you order. If there's a problem with the order or they have the wrong address for whatever reason they need a way to contact you, which happened to me once.
Luigi's is a small place in Pacifica w/ little ambiance and yes, Luigi works there! He's a sweet and handsome little 70 y.o. Italian man! The lasagna was delicious. The only lasagna I have ever eaten that had pepperoni or some kind of italian meat in it besides just the beef and sausage. It was soooo good! Great food at great prices. :)
I find the varying reviews about this place fascinating. My brother and his friends ate here and HATED it. I went in last night, without knowing it was the same place, after totally encountering the restaurant by chance, and LOVED it. Luigi was our server, and he was very nice, especially considering I did not know they gave out garlic bread to every table and wanted to know why we couldn't order it. Oops.
We ordered three different pastas, and everyone really liked theirs. I was especially loving my tortellini with alfredo. The salad was decent, and the minestrone was very good. And their garlic bread is YUMMY!
I also like the atmosphere- very homey and family feeling. In this era of chains and box stores, I like a place that doesn't feel like it was all unpacked from a cheap cardboard box. And the rest of the customers were obviously regulars, who had lived in the neighborhood for a long time. I kinda wished I was one of them.
Casual, old world charm. Luigi is so lovely and welcoming. Pizzas are always good and the garlic bread is great for dipping in extra pasta sauce.
The rice balls were great, the service was very friendly (Luigi is the man!), and our meals were like my grandma had made it. If you are looking for some homemade goodness at a GREAT price (only $1.99 for the rice balls), this is the spot. Will eat there again soon!
We checked this little joint out yesterday for lunch, seeing as how it's less than a mile down the street from our new house. Luigi greeted us at the door and took care of us. The food was great and the price killed all competitors'. There's nothing fancy about the decor. In fact, it's quite boring, but the food and friendliness make up for it. In a way, it's like a dive for Italian restaurants. The rice balls are excellent, the pizza is light and flavorful, and the (free) garlic bread is homemade and off the charts. If you're looking for simple, flavorful Italian classics, look no further. For a fancy date, you'll be disappointed... unless you try the food before you leave.
We've been going to Luigi's for about 3 years now. The food is excellent and a good value. It is family friendly and the owner is very accommodating if you have an allergy or preference. He makes his garlic bread from pizza dough, and it's outstanding. Since we can't eat garlic, he makes it plain for us, and it's just as good.
Recently, I have had events for 50 people catered by him. He delivered to the city free of charge, his prices were very reasonable, and the food was wonderful. We've done ravioli and veggie lasagne, both a big hit. I particularly love his manicotti. The pasta is fresh and it is full of cheese with a nice amount of sauce, in addition to coming with a side of steamed veggies and bread.
His pastas are fresh and the sauces are good too. All in all, a very good value and a good meal. It may not be what gourmets are looking for, but this is about good pizza and a local business doing good things for the community and having a lot of pride in his product.
Luigi will personally deliver the best home made gnocci with meat sauce and meatballs to your table. A simple place with exceptional food. Like going to your uncle's house for dinner.
Since Round Table Pizza closed and reopened it is NOT the same and has went down hill. I know eat Luigi's. The pizza and the rice balls are good. If you order the rice balls and you are getting them to go, I recommend that you get sauce on the side so it does not get soggy, also with extra sauce.
Luigi's is a fantastic Italian restaurant in an unexpected area.
Native San Franciscans will love this place as the pizza is very reminiscent of those you'd find in the Inner Sunset...ie Milano's & Pasquale's. The pasta is great as well. The portions are generous and cooked to perfection. My son is a tough and picky customer and very hard to please, and he even loves this place. Yes, it is great for kids.
Luigi's does not have the most elegant decor, though. As a matter of fact, it kind of reminds me of an H&R Block, sans the cubicles. Great food though!
Luigi is always sweet and kind to our little, messy girl. Five Stars! Plus, the food is good-- always hot, always extremely comforting. We love the rice balls (a perfect meal for Destructo). The garlic bread is hot and loaded with butter and chunks of garlic. The food is straightforward, none of that fancy, mamby pamby nuvo italiano. When we went there tonight, I ordered the seafood risotto, and hubs got the linguini with alfredo sauce. We probably consumed a cube of butter between us. It was creamy and satisfying. The last time we came, Luigi forgot our beer, and then remembered at then end, and as an apology, he gave it to us for free!
Really Really Friendly Staff. Great Pizza and Pasta as well!
Love Luigi's! They help hold fundraisers for the military moms group my mom leads from time to time to help offset the cost of stamps!!! I love their food!
I love this place. Luigi is SO nice and friendly. Always greets us with a smile and seems to be a real hard worker. It's a nice little restaurant. Plenty of seating if you're having a get together. I always go back to his pizzeria because of the garlic and cheese pizza. I have never tried anything else there, nor do I feel like I need to. This garlic and cheese pizza is the key to my stomach.
Hey, ordered a Chicken Parmisagna sandwich, a 3 topping 3 cheese pizza with a coupon, and paid well under $30, even with a decent tip. You can't go wrong for the price, especially in this economy, you have to at least try it. They also have a well varied menu, and the sandwich was delicious, and the pizza very good. Not to mention they have a pretty good radius for deliveries, and you only have to spend $12 for them to deliver, and they don't charge a fee. Will definitely order from them again!
Luigi's is an amazing restaurant. I have it so often because it is so good. If anyone doesn't like this place, they have not ever had good food. They have wonderful pizza and soup. They also have the best spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs are better than wonderful. The pasta is wonderful with the meat or tomato sauce.
The people there are so nice and if you need anything, you don't need to wait long before the waitress or waiter comes to you. If you come here you will NOT regret it. I love Luigi's.
Good Pizza and Lasagna, and the rice ball and garlic bread were excellent.
Our first experience at Luigi's was really good, and we've been regulars since then. We were new to the area and Luigi even bought me a drink - Peroni, an Italian beer (which I know stock at home Thanks Luigi)
Our personal favorite is the Garlic Lovers Pizza with extra Clams, mmmm so good. We weren't sure at first if we could order the extra clams but per Luigi "its your pizza and you can do whatever you want, why not." He is a really nice man.
So here goes:
Over all experience I gave it 4 stars, mainly because of location and price
I give it 5 stars because I love Luigi, he's such a sweet man! He's funny & friendly & soo very hospitable...& he gave us a free dessert!
I can literally walk here from the apartment in 1 minute, which is freaking AWESOME. I love that this isn't some franchise or corporate company. The food here is the REAL DEAL.
Portion sizes are decent, if you have an average size appetite. I couldn't finish my meal, but when do I ever? Food is about $9 - $14/person. So that's a plus too.
We ordered the buffalo wings to start, now not your average buffalo wings. The wings were not fried which made them a tad bit healthier & they were not slathered in your average wing sauce. They were smothered with a spicy red sauce. Reminded me of a BBQ/marinara sauce. So basically a spicy spaghetti sauce, it was too good.
For my meal I ordered the spaghetti w/ meat balls. I added the sausage & mushrooms as well. Justin (the boyf) & I think that Italian restaurants are defined by their spaghetti & meatballs. This dish really delivered. You could taste the freshness of the sausage & could tell the the meatballs were freshly pressed. The meat sauce was to die for. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. Justin ordered tortellini w/ pesto. Yummy, so good! The pesto was served as a light sauce over the tortellini, but the taste was packin! You didn't need that much! The pasta was more heavy than the pesto, awesome combo.
I will be coming here as many times as my bank account let's me!
We came here for the first time about two weeks ago on a Sunday and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We were first greeted by a very friendly owner, Luigi, and were served warm, delicious bread soon after we were seated. Apparently, the garlic bread is made in-house by Luigi (big plus). My husband thought it was especially delicious. We had pizza and alfredo pasta, which were both very good. I wanted to try the tiramisu and, being vegetarian, I wanted to be certain that the ingredients were vegetarian. Luigi was kind enough to read all of the ingredients with my husband to accommodate my request. The rest of the staff was also very friendly. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by and try the place out! Loved the service and warm, good food =)
they have their own parking lot.
i met luigi. he's a great guy. nice gentlemean who's like a very friendly dad to the customers.
i went with an entertainment coupon. which is buy an entree and get one entree free. Luigi is so nice, that he even offered me the coupon to keep after i ordered two entrees and a pizza, in case i wanted to come back again. NOW THATS HOW YOU KEEP CUSTOMERS!
I ordered the risotto. I don't know if its arborio because it didn't look like risotto i've had from some other italian places but who am i? I don't know the difference from thai, chinese, basmati rice...
i also ordered the cannelloni which i ate there. Luigi even told me if i wanted more after i finished, he'd give me some more! WOW! THAT'S HOW YOU KEEP CUSTOMERS!
Ordered a pizza. Great Price. Its not some out of this world pizza but it uses fresh ingredients...in fact, all of the food does. You can smell it.
The place tastes home made. Like your mom would make.
I've had the sandwiches here. The bread and the meatball are AWESOME! Fresh tasting ingredients.
Also, had the chicken parmesean sandwich. Same as the Meatball. Great!
The Prices are more than GOOD!
I've ordered many things here, and there's two things that I've found that luigi's that I've yet to enjoy anywhere else:
1.) The rice balls. They don't always come hot inside for some reason (just tell them and they'll fix it), but when they do, they're yummy!
2.) ask for a chicken pesto pizza with garlic. And have them use the pesto as a base and not as a topping. Really delicious.
2.5) The garlic bread is actually really quite good. I like to eat it with the meat sauce that comes with the rice balls.
I've tasted most of the stuff on the menu, and most of the stuff wont exactly blow your socks off or anything. Their chicken parm sandwich uses frozen breaded chicken tenders... but despite that, there are other things that are fresh (like the thing I've listed... aside from the rice balls, which are likely frozen.) Despite all of that, this place really is still worth a look. The chicken cannelloni is also very good, and the clam linguini isn't bad either. Overall pretty solid food at a good price.
Luigi is really just one of the nicest guys ever. The type of guy who would greet you with a smile and shake your hand like he's known you forever even though he hasn't. Absolutely one of the most sincerely nicest guys ever.
Great little hole-in-the-wall family style restaurant! As promised in all the reviews, Luigi is super sweet, and his staff was pretty nice as well. My hubby and I got the rice ball, shrimp pesto linguini and a combo pizza. Everything was on point. It's a great find for Pacifica, will definitely be coming back!
I will only comment on the pizza and garlic bread since thats what I always order. They do a great job with the pizza's. Very generous and cost effective. Its my go to place in town for pizza. And the garlic bread is also fantastic. The wait staff is nice and warm. Overall, a great place to take the family for a satisfying and cost effective meal out.
Cute relaxed setting for casual dining. This is not the kind of place to propose to the woman of your dreams, but it is a great place for tasty Italian food that is fairly priced.
One drawback: The his/hers bathroom opens right into the dining area so do everything you're gonna do before you open the door. Just sayin'. :)
Luigi's is not a place for tourists from Michigan or fast food yokels. I have eaten at Luigi's off and on for 18 years. Nice people, good food, and a variety of choices.
Delicious dinner, my friends and family we ordered vegetarian pizza, it is one of the best pizzas I have tasted in a while, crust and baking was perfect. lt's a nice cozy restaurant but food matters the most. The owner was a sweet young old man.
We got the meat lover's pizza here and it was delicious! Our waitress was also very friendly and prompt. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone.
Boyfriend's brother brought us to this restaurant after he had heard good things and we were in the area. The atmosphere was okay. It seemed as if everyone knew Luigi (a 60-70ish year old man who was taking the orders himself). I had the Combo Lasagna which was piping hot when it came out. It was actually really quite delicious. The vegetables they threw on the side (if you count them as vegetables, a few slices of cucumber and carrots) were soggy and kind of gross. But the main dish itself was really good. Boyfriend had linguini with clams and after I had a bite of it I have to say that it is one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. Boyfriend's brother had the meat ravioli and after I had a bite of that too I had to conclude that we may come back.
Only downside is the service. I would have liked a little more attention to our table because since I had only ordered water, it came out in a really small cup, which I finished almost less than halfway through my meal.
Love this place for pizza and pasta. The inside is a no frills kinda atmosphere. Hopefully one day they can redo the dinning area. When it's busy the service can be slow.
Gotta have their rice balls...deelish!
This is a great family restaurant or date night place, with fair prices and wonderful home vibe to it. Service is great...they treat you like you are old pals. Everything from the pizza to pasta is delicious. Garlic bread is homemade and awesome! We ordered two baskets. I love how they make it with Pizza dough, just gives it that special flare. My favorite is the Meat Lasagna which comes out piping hot...so let that baby cool before you bite into it. Luigi is the sweetest man ever and you can tell he loves his restaurant and his customers. Do check out if you are looking for a friendly atmosphere and some homemade Italian food.
Luigi's has the mom-and-pop charm goin' on. I really had to look for anything on the menu that was over ten bucks. I was disappointed in their beer selection, but to my great pleasure, they allowed me to drink my own beer there for no fee AND they gave me a nice big chilled mug in which to drink it! Way to win my heart. Next, my wife and I ate an entire pizza without feeling the guilt of having eaten an entire pizza. Unlike most pizzas, it actually agreed with my body.
If you are looking to eat some pizza that is not your typical costco or round table pizza this is the place to go! Their pizzas are delicious! Try the rice balls too as a appetizer. Very reasonably priced. My boyfriend I have gone in a few times already and it has become a favorite for us!
Update June 2013:
Luigis continues to be one of our go to pizza stops! Especially now since it was the place where my boyfriend and I had dinner right before he took me to the beach in Pacifica to propose to me!!
I have been eating at Luigi's Pizza since I was a little boy. Great pizza. Home cooked meals. A real family atmosphere. I love Luigi's minestrone soup and garlic beard! The best!
If I order a pizza I like to keep it simple. I love a great salami pizza. Simple and you can better enjoy the sauce, cheese and crust. Perfect!
I used to get take out from Luigi's when it was in South San Francisco. This was my first time at his place in Pacifica and the first time sitting down to eat in his restaurant. We were waited on by Katie. She was so nice, very attentive, and a pleasure to talk with. I had the chicken scallopini for the first time and it was delicious as was the garlic bread, which we had two servings of. My friend had the spaghetti and meatballs that he really liked. I would go there again for the food but also because of Katie and Luigi who is such a sweet man.
I love Luigi's! Always friendly service with a smile, and delicious food. I always order their rice balls because at $2.50 each, they can't be beat! The garlic bread and pizza is really good too. Great local place for family dinner or get togethers. Luigi himself is always present and super nice.
Best pizza in Pacifica. The crust is flavorful and properly chewy and crunchy -- not bland, as often happens with California pizza. The sauce and cheese are excellent. Luigi is everpresent and invariably welcoming.
Luigi's isn't fast, but it's decent food for an amazingly low price.
I am definitely a fan of Luigi's! :D My hubby and I will definitely return for more of their AMAZINGLY delicious Rice Balls (with meat inside and fried like an arancini - but better than any arancini you have probably had) and the raviolis with meatballs. And let's not forget the deliciously addicting garlic bread that comes with your meal. ;) I thought the chicken cacciatore was cooked perfectly and reminded me the style my mom and I make. The chicken fell off the bone. I give the service an A for Effort. If you are in the mood for some "comfort food" - I think Luigi's is the place to go. I really want to try their pizza. We saw others eating it and it looked and smelled delicious. I think the prices here are great too.
Great little italian restaurant I have know the owner luigi mu whole life and if much like a family friend.
Rice balls are off the Hook!!!! And I absolutly love his cheese raviollis in meat sauce. My dad highly recommend the chicken pesto lingini. Fresh ingredients!
I have had many birthday partys here and everyone always love the food.
This was our first time at Luigi's and we will definitely be back! When we go to an Italian restaurant my husband always has Spaghetti & I always have Lasagna. We can honestly say the the spaghetti & lasagna were the best we have ever had. The sauce was excellent & you could tell it wasn't just out of a can but a homemade old Italian recipe! We loved our food! We told our server how much we liked it & she brought out Luigi so we could tell him. He is a lovely Italian man who has a lot of background in the food industry. We talked to him for quite some time.
Our service was excellent. We were seated right away and we received our food very quickly. We had a very pleasant dinner!
Thank you Luigi! We will be back whenever we are in the area!
We're trying to eat at all of the local Pacifica restaurants and Luigi's is one of the last ones we have yet to try...until last night.
We went early on a Sunday (around 5pm) and it was empty. Luigi was the only one serving tables. Service was a little slow, but we didn't mind.
We ordered: The Rice Ball, Minestrone soup, two beers (Peroni and Moretti), Ravioli with meatballs, and Chicken Parm. Everything was FANTASTIC! It's not gourmet fare, but it's definitely not the standard pizza/pasta joint. The food was fresh and very "homey" feeling. Luigi also brings out some warm, crusty, farmhouse-style, garlic buttered bread to the table - it was perfect to sop up all of the yummy sauce and soup we had ordered.
the Ravioli was homemade - with a spinach/ricotta mixture (very good). The Chicken Parm was completely devoured (the sides are Rigatoni with meat sauce and a few slices of carrot and zucchini - I can say the veggies were perfectly cooked and fresh fresh fresh!)
The minestrone was awesome - perhaps the heartiest minestrone I've ever had. The Rice Ball was perfect as an appetizer. Rice, surrounding peas and ground meat, coated with panko (we're guessing) and deep fried for a nice golden crust. Served on top of tomato sauce. It was very good!
For all of this, it cost $32 - AND Luigi gave us two beers to go! He is a really nice man.
We will definitely be going back to try the pizza. What a great local, family owned business!
Great small (family owned?) restaurant. My wife and I walked in and they told us to sit down wherever we wanted. The menu was laminated and very easy to read. I love the interior as it's classic woodwork (unpainted, but great looking wood trim everywhere).
They had a TV on but it wasn't overly loud, and the people eating there seemed to be local regulars. We were there on a Sunday night and ordered a rice ball, minestrone soup, a chicken cannelloni and a roasted chicken (with pasta and garlic bread). The rice ball was $1.99 and absolutely delicious. Neither of us had one before and we both loved it. I can imagine bringing my (future) kids here and having them eat a rice ball for dinner. The outside was crunchy and the inside was soft with beef and peas. The sauce inside the bowl was pretty good too, and I used it as dip for the garlic bread.
The garlic bread was also delicious. Soft, only slightly crunchy, and melts in your mouth. The garlic wasn't overly strong and the bread was not overly buttered either.
The minestrone soup was pretty good; the only thing that kind of irked me was that the broth wasn't clear -- I think some old vegetables were probably dissolving and breaking apart making the broth a bit cloudy, but it still tasted good.
The chicken cannelloni was just ok -- way too much cheese for me and the plate was much htoter than my food (which was just warm). My wife had the roasted chicken and there was literally half a chicken on her plate. The chicken breast was a bit dry for us, but otherwise it was a great meal, and we can't wait to come back.
One of my favorite places in Pacifica! Luigi is The Man! I love the pizza, even though it could use more toppings. Order the Rice Balls! Trust me, they are awesome.
Owner - Luigi still works there! Food was good, we ordered Luigi's special pizza and seafood risotto. Everything was delicious. Service is slow though! But overall, yes, I would recommend this place
I liked it. I liked it enough to plan to go back when I go to that area of the bay again, and thought of contrivances to get me to that side again. It is probably a 4.5 (but I round up)- I won't dream of it at night or pine, but I will plan to go back.
I came after a surf lesson and we were early, but the doors were open. Before the great 12 o'clock "show" started, the doors were open, opera was on for all to hear, and kitchen noises are being made with honest to goodness things being cooked.
The owner, Luigi, is the reason to go. He is very nice and generous and the whole place feels kind. The decor is dated, but there is something so sweet and down home, it just feels like going to a generous person's house. There is a patriotic poster of Italian American pride as well as a lot of pictures of Venice and other scenes of Italy. There are coloring crayons for kids. This is not the hot date place to dress up, definitely it is a family place. They do quite a good little pizza takeout business too.
Highly recommend: aranchi/rice ball (we are asian, so drawn to the riceball more out of curiousity than desire, but it was a surprise hit). Someone else was raving about the sauce that goes with it, and yes, I concur. The sauce is awesome. My caneloni was spot on. At first I panicked because I did not see any red and I am used to some tomato in my Italian food, but it was so rich, full and cheesy, it actually did not need the tomato.
Wine: I am not a drinker, but Luigi got a lot of bonus points here. He was honoring an expired ancient Groupon, and it gives two glasses of wine with two entrees. He says "If you give something away, give away the best. People will remember that." Pinot Grigio! I am not a wine drinker, and I could taste the pinot was good. Mom said the cabernet was good too.
Some locals near us came in and had a bowl of minestrone each.
Next time: Luigi said his lasagna (vegetarian or meat) is the specialty
Things I would pass on (nothing was bad): alfredo- actually underflavored. My mom usually complains about everything being too salty but ended up adding lots of table parmesan. The garlic bread also will not knock out your neighbors (I am a garlic hound), but it serves to mop the sauce.
Desserts are not made in house.
Hope this helps someone decide to eat here if they have the chance.
Eggplant parmigiana = delicious, with a bit of pasta and their savory fresh veggies!
Chicken parmigiana = great.
Service = friendly, as always.
I still LOVE the rice ball appetizer......delicious!!
Tiramisu = good but a tad frozen?
The best treat for the evening: shaking hands and having a short conversation with a former soap opera star (s.m.) and his mother and their family friend. :D Happy Mother's Day!
I Love Luigi's. The food is always good, love the rice balls. The owner is great and does a lot for the community. The place is better and better everytime I go and it is nice to go to a business where the owner is usually around and he actually cares.
This is the place Pacifica should be going to and everyone should be supporting Luigi's cause he supports our town.
Ignore the reviews of the want to be foodies who think they know good food and complain about stupid stuff like the noodles being over cooked, trying to push their broken taste buds on the rest of us. Go and you will see that Luigi's has great food for the price not just good, great. Best value in Pacifica and the Italian dishes put many of those overpriced italian places to shame. As far as Pizza Places go this is a great one. Why are you still reading, get down there and try some good food.
Eat and be Merry
If you don't like the food and can prove to me you are not a complete moron I will buy your dinner.
Great Italian food! My wife and I come here for their riceballs everytime we are in Pacifica. Sometimes we will take the drive from San Jose just to go to Luigis because it's just that good!
Wow! Meat sauce fabulous, gnocchi so good, a bit over cooked though, I'll ask them next time to make it a little more aldente. Rice balls are great and garlic bread as other reviews said. Ambiance, place could use a makeover, but being from NJ this is the best Italian we have found in the Bay Area including SF!
Had an incredible dinner here tonight with some friends. Luigi is the sweetest man on earth. He is there in the front of the restaurant greeting guests and making sure everyone feels welcome.
Their RICE BALLS ARE INCREDIBLE. You have to try this. After eating ONE as an appetizer--I was very satisfied and wasn't sure I could eat any more. It has meat in the middle, rice surrounding it, breaded and served in marinara meat sauce! Succulent!
I ordered the seafood pizza with anchovies on top! Incredible. There were prawns, clams, mussels, and crab on the pizza Crust was excellent!
The restaurant is more than reasonable--you must visit!
Mr. Luigi himself waited on us :) This was an incredible dinner for a very very reasonable price. HOMEMADE I mean....wow .....good food :) Close to the beach and friendly. We will tell everyone we know to try this place when they are there :)
Its homey! Go for the rice balls- fried ball w white rice and beef with red meat sauce. Luigi the owner, is an old man with hospitable service. Hot seafood fettucine it's ok and filling eith imitation crab, shrimp, baby mussels, squid and baby clams . Friend got liguine and baby clams, finished it. And complimentary garlic bread. Good peroni beer. I'll be back for gnocchi or ravioli. Thank you :)
Came here for Mother's Day with my husband and this place is awesome . The food is delicious ohh and that rice ball! Wow so amazing !!! The owner and his workers are very nice and welcoming . Everyone had Excellent customer service . This is now our number 1 spot for Italian food .
Love this place ! You have to try the rice balls yum
Came to Luigis because the boy&I were craving pizza, and saw positive feedback, so we figured we would give it a try.
Right when we walked in, we were greeted by Luigi himself. It was a slow day, so they told us to sit wherever. The boy [I feel weird calling him a boy, because he's only a few years younger than myself, but I digress] serving us was very attentive, and gave good suggestions. We ordered a rice ball [because everybody was talking about it!], chicken cannoloni, a small garlic lovers' pizza with clams on top [free toppings?!] and garlic bread. We got a call before we were served, and decided to take everything but the rice ball to go. They were super accommodating, and brought out our rice ball in a few minutes.
I thought the rice ball concept confusing, because I'm used to Asian places, but it was so good. I hate peas with a passion [I pick them out of EVERYTHING], but it was so good, I even ate it. It's basically a rice ball [with some peas&meat] fried and put in a bowl of meat sauce. Delicious. So simple, yet so yummy! While we waited for the rest of our food [to-go], I left to go check on AB's dog, whom I was puppysitting, while the boy stayed inside and just chatted to the staff. He said they were really friendly and helpful.
I thought the chicken cannolini was a little too creamy for me [I'm not a huge fan of alfredo], but ohmygoodness the pizza smelled so good; it took all of my willpower not to eat it in the car! The boy loooved the clams on top, and well, I just like anything with garlic in it. The garlic bread was a little bit softer than I would have liked, but, I mean it was wrapped in aluminum foil and had to wait 20 minutes to be eaten.
The total ended up being around $25, which was definitely not bad considering how much food we got. I give it 4 1/2 stars, but I'm rounding because... I got such good vibes. I definitely will be back again.
I would give it a 3 1/2. The food is great. You can't go wrong with the rice balls, they are the best!!!
One and 1/2 star deducted because the service can be awful. Mr. Luigi needs to find some decent wait staff in his restaurant!
They donate to local sports teams which is great!
We've had their take out pizza about half a dozen times now and it's consistently good; no idear if delivery service is good or if the rest of the menu is good. There was maybe one goof-up on our order but it was remedied to our satisfaction lickety split. We recommend.
It's all about the huge rice balls. They are soooo good. Perfectly cooked crispy on the outside soft and warm on the inside. My only gripe is not enough sauce. The sauce is the best meat sauce I've had in a restaurant. I even asked for extra but they did not do it.
I have tried other items there and they are ok. I like lots of garlic in my Italian food and there food is pretty bland. Tasty but bland for my taste.
Over all I give it 4 stars. Lugi is a nice man and the staff always seems attentive. This is not a fancy Italian place but a family establishment. Great place to bring your kids or to get take out.
I really enjoyed my visit here, the food was great I ordered the fettuccini seafood. It came with a variety of seafoods: clam, shrimp, octopus, scallop. I could eat only half, and the price was very reasonable. Luigi served me himself and asked what I thought of the dish after. Servers came to me about five times but I did feel a difference from the hurried pace of other restaurants. Good to know in advance because I wasn't sure if they were open at first. It felt like a neighborhood restaurant which it is I suppose, kids come in from their bikes and ask for water. The staff was very genuine and friendly. Will come back again to try what else is on the menu.
Giving a four only BC I picked up food instead of eating there....and its a family owned place so things looked outdated. But the pizza was very good and since we waited a little longer for our stuff BC it was busy , we rec'd a free piece of tiramisu. Very nice people that work there, even Luigi himself. Also didn't get to taste the rice balls but heard good things about them just by sitting there waiting for my pizza.
There's no place like Luigi's! And there's nobody more caring about his customers than Luigi. Without being pretentious and overpriced, this place is a gem in the neighborhood with good old-fashioned Italian food. Real Italian food.i've tried just about everything on the menu. From the gnocchi to the lasagna, to the cannelloni and the rice balls, all are very, very good.
We've had large get togethers and parties here and Luigi and his staff have never failed to do a wonderful job with the food and the hospitality. It's just like eating in your Noni"s big kitchen!
The balls. The rice balls also called arancini in Italian are delicious with ground beef and peas wrapped in rice, then deep fried and served upon a sea of marinara. I always order 3 balls and only end up eating 2 they're so big!! Gotta love big balls
LOVE that we were seated by Luigi himself. He might just be the sweetest man in Pacifica. The food is great, the prices are great, the atmosphere is super casual (a plus for those of us with littles in tow) - an all around fantastic find.
Food here is amazing, everything is made from scratch even the bread...great service too. Luigi is very sweet and welcoming.
Feels like a Midwestern family-style Italian restaurant. Great options. Great prices. Great servers. Pretty good food. I'd come again and try something else.
I love this place! The food is so delicious! I love the pasta, pizza and the amazing rice balls. I can never find italian rice balls at any other restaurants. I live in San Francisco but this is one of my top two favorite italian restaurants ever! Luigi is adorable. This is a wonderful family restaurant. I just wish they would fix it up a little bit. But otherwise I enjoy coming here. :)
The combination Calzone is delicious. Highly recommended.
First time at Luigi's and I had the spaghetti and meatballs and my daughter had a personal pizza. The sauce was good and the meatballs were very good. My daughter enjoyed her pizza. I will definitely be going back...
The place has good Italian. But what makes it special is the owner. Nicest man you will ever meet Makes you feel like family!
Although the food was mediocre at best, there's something so splendid about this place! I just got good vibes the entire time I was there! The design is very unique. Place used to be a house I believe and was then turned into a restaurant.. Seems very neighborhood based. I don't see many out of towners making there way in these random cuts of Pacifica.
Then Mr. Luigi! What a boss hog! Me and the lady absolutely adored the guy. Very nice and really attentive. You can tell he's been in the restaurant business nearly his entire life. He even hooked me up with a free glass of merlot! Cheers to you Luigi, god bless you! CROATIA AND ITALY CONNECTION!
My fianc and I have been coming to Pacifica for a couple years together now. We just recently heard about Luigi's, and boy am I glad we did! Luigi himself served us and was such a sweetheart, and the food was nothing short of amazing! We ordered a variety of things and it was all authentic and delicious. This will definitely be our new spot to eat every time we come back. :-)
I love this place! They had really good food and knowledgeable staff. The staff gave great recommendations to local attractions. The desserts were to die for. We will definitely be coming back.
Luigi's is great. Really nice people, good food, cute location. I don't understand how some places all the way in the back of the valley of Pacifica stay in business, but I'm glad they do.
I started going to Luigi's back in my high school days when they first opened and it quickly became a hit with my whole family. Luigi himself is such a sweetheart: my littlest bro was probably 3 or 4, and he wanted to have a soda, but he wanted to "make" it himself, and mix his two favorites, Root Beer and Orange (obviously), so Luigi allowed him to go behind the counter and fill his own cup, and also showed him where the pizzas are made.
The pizza and garlic bread are very good, I've also had the Rigatoni with Meat Sauce, and can't wait to go back in and try the Arancini. Glad to see Luigi's is still up and running!
This is a great family restaurant in Pacifica! If you are looking for fancy atmosphere, this is not it. It's a family owned cozy dining room which is one of my favorite parts.
My family and I came on a Friday night, a total of 8 of us. We had some rice balls, which were very good and shared a meat lovers pizza for appetizer. The pizza was cooked to perfection! As we were having dinner, many people were coming in for takeout, especially the pizza.
We brought our own wine and it only costs $5 per bottle for corkage fee. Some people ordered lasagna, chicken or eggplant parmesan...I had the simple spaghetti with meat sauce and it was delicious! Let's just say we almost licked our plates clean because the food was so good.
The service was also great, really nice lady and just a friendly place to get some dinner.
I will be coming back for more and a plus for having the giants game on so we could keep checking on the score! Yay for Luigi's!!
After having a bad experience in HMB (see previous post) we decided to come up the coast to Pacifica and grab a bite for our Mothers Day dinner. We didn't have a clue what was around other then the fanciest Taco Bell I have ever seen so we used Yelp to help us decide. We came across Luigi's and decided to try it. As soon as we walked in, it looked like we walked into the front of a Dominoes pizza, a few youngsters were very friendly and said hello and then we were greeted by Mr Luigi. He sat us down and said hello. Nice old guy but doesn't talk much.
We took a look at the menu and decided on the Chicken Parm and the Chicken Scalopini and a couple of Rice Balls because they were mentioned a few times on Yelp. The food came and it was pretty good. You can tell it was homemade and so much different then the franchise type places like Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill. The Garlic Bread was excellent and the Rice Balls were a winner. The sauce that the Balls were in was very good and I could have ate just a bowl of that.
Here is where the problems come in. The place wasn't that busy, maybe 4 tables, but they only had one waitress working. She was a nice lady, but maybe overwhelmed. We didn't get silverware until after our food was put down and we had to ask. No refills. Like I said earlier, she was a very nice lady. The place has a nice down home feel to it, but not the type of place for a romantic dinner or to celebrate a very special event. Also a suggestion to the staff. The rice balls were awesome and for many a new experience, maybe when taking orders they should be mentioned as a nice appetizer.
I will definitely return when I'm back in the area and I suggest others try.
Food- great choices (pasta, pizza, sandwiches, etc.)
Food portion- they give good portions for all entrees.
Atmosphere- great music choices, TV, spacious
Customer Service- very accommodating, approachable, extremely friendly
Luigi's restaurant is one of very few restaurants that makes you feel like you're at home. He checks up on you for whatever you need, jokes around, very humble.
I went with a group of 12 with 5 wheelchairs. From the time we parked to the time we left, Luigi came out to greet us. Luigi was our host, waiter, server, all in one because he wanted to be. It made me feel like I was at an Uncle's house to hang out and catch up. Keep in mind this is my first time there. That speaks volume and I will definitely keep coming back and will spread the word.
I give Luigi's a 5 star because of the amazing customer service they provided. Don't miss the chance to chat up with Luigi. You won't regret it.
I really liked this restaurant And the service was amazing. I got the cheese pizza, and there was just the right amount of cheese and sauce. The crust was just a little too doughy, but that didn't bother me that much.
I would come back here!
I tried this spot yesterday after a day out on the trails doing some MTB riding. Luigi is such a boss, very friendly and a respectable old man! He introduced him self and chatted with us before taking our orders. I recommend the all meat lasagna. It was sooo tasty and cooked to perfection. When I eat bad Italian food, it messes up my stomach, not the case here!. The food here is high quality. Give it a shot the next time you pass through pacifica!
Fantastic garlic bread, very friendly and yes, rice balls are great! Seems like a lot of locals frequent the place and the staff know them all.
Luigi is really great Sicilian who opened up shop in USA, so you have to understand his style and makeup.
I have been coming here for his Pizza and his Rice balls with meat for over 15 years when it was located in So. San Francisco. Thats what he is famous for.
I always ask him to make it real authentic Naples (no Nalolese) style, and he always does a great job.
While I don't care for his pasta, he is famous for his Pizza... and he wins awards posted on walls for them. Not to heavy on toppings, thin and crispy crust. Just need that coal fired oven and it would be perfect. You can clearly see his 20 x 50 LB flour stacked, thats how much pizza he makes for the community.
Love to give business to small shop keeps like Luigi, especially when he remembers my kids and I starting decades ago... that's called old world style and charm. Beats chain style pizza places hands down.
Not to mention his XL combo is only $20, cheaper than most places I know.
Excellent food, homey environment and top notch service!!!
It's a very cozy restaurant, Luigi attended us personally and he was very courteous and kind. We asked for gnocchi and the meat lasagna and everything was excellent, well prepared and good quality. If you go to Pacifica, you should go here for sure!
Love love love Luigis! It's such a comfortable environment and the food is always good. The marinara sauce and rice balls are my fav. We eat their food at least once a week.
Lovely family owned restaurant with classic Italian food at great prices. You have to try the rice balls; they are to die for! And the icing on the cake is Mr. Luigi. He's who I want to be if I'm lucky enough to get old: sweet, nimble, friendly and makes you feel welcome, It's not fast food so don't go there in a hurry and don't give Mr. Luigi any guff or I'll come and show you some of my boxing moves.
Service has always been friendly and fast. Have talked to Luigi several times and one young gentleman who works there is always very helpful and always looks likes he is working hard. The rice balls are really delicious and love the garlic bread that they serve when you eat there. I usually order the pizza and the crust has a lot of flavor. Good amount of toppings. Only downside is that the pasta dishes are not al dente so I usually avoid those, although the lasagna is pretty decent. It's not the best Italian restaurant but it's a good local place to go to.
Luigi's, old school Italian at affordable prices!! AND Luigi is a nice man. Call in 30 minutes before you are ready to eat as Luigi doesn't rush his food!!!!
Very nice atmosphere. Nice Italian restaurant, nothing over-the-top... just good food. The service was wonderful, the staff was very nice. We had two dogs with us and they set up a table outside just for us.
I would recommend this restaurant. Remember, you're not in Italy :)
Service was fast, we were greeted promptly and seated right away. After ordering our food was brought to our table quickly. The owner Was very friendly and thanked us for our business a couple of times. We order the spaghetti a With meat sauce and spaghetti with sausage. Both of us were very please the flavor of the sauce was great and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Serving size was spot on. We decided to share a piece of chocolate mouse cake and it was good and decently priced. I would definitely return for a plate of pasta or to try something else.
For a casual night out, this is definitely the place. It has all the basics in Italian food at really affordable prices. It's not exactly gourmet, but it tasted great and is the perfect place to go if you don't feel like cooking.
The service is friendly and prompt, and if you're lucky you'll get to meet Luigi. We did, and he was really witty and entertaining. He spent a lot of the night walking around saying hi and talking to the guests. He's a great guy.
Very. Very good pizza.
The server and owner where the only ones working there.
they are very nice simple people. Great customer service and very funny.
Recommend to anyone looking for a great pizza place.
Prices are reasonable also.
Love Luigi's! Yesterday I had a sausage, pepperoni and mushroom pizza and it was delicious! I was supposed to bring it home right away, but I couldn't help eating a couple of slices first while it was nice and hot. Good stuff, good parking, good for families and Luigi is a great guy.
Luigi! What a guy! What a great place! After 4 days of pit toilet camping we needed this! A simple but clean dining hall, no bells and whistles, set to a perfect soundtrack of classic Italian American heartthrobs. A perfect reintroduction to civilization.
Extra large cheese pizza and we ordered the mysterious rice balls (arancini). What an awesome surprise! My kid couldn't stop saying how much she loved the pizza. We live in a mecca of good pizza but this won us over. And those rice balls! Sold!
Luigi was warm and friendly, he joked with us and visited our table several times. I'd scrap high end neo pizza joints for this pleasant family attitude any day.
This is our new and forever pit stop after camping, beaching , day tripping.... And his wife(?) was a gem!
Thank you for being so welcoming!
I love Luigi's. It's a real, old fashioned Italian place, totally authentic! Love the spaghetti & meatballs.
Go to pizza place in pacifica for some gnocchi. Usually takes about 15 mins on a slow night, lucky I've never been around when it's busy.
From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out the staff was so friendly! The food was delicious and I'd definitely go back for more. I ordered the chicken parm dinner and I don't think I've ever entirely finished a meal before at a restaurant but I did this time! We also ordered garlic bread that was delicious and the waitress brought my one year old rigatoni that she ate in 5 minutes! The sauce was to die for! Definitely recommend going here!
Luigi's was a great find in Pacifica when we were looking for something to eat.. Quick service. The owner himself took our orders. When we ordered garlic bread, he said that it comes with our entree so do not order it separately.. The garlic bread was sooo good.. the bread was fresh and crispy, right out of oven and garlicky!! I devoured it.. Luigi brought second helpings without asking for it.. and he even brought it out a third time even after I said we don't need it.. He just said, take it home with you. :)
We also had pizza which was really good.. thin crust and cheesy goodness..
Hubby had the rice ball which he liked and cheese ravioli which was good but not the best he has had..
The service itself would be something I would come back for.. the amazing garlic bread and pizza helps too.. :)
Luigi is the man. For years he has hosted the long term patients of Laguna Honda at his restaurant. Not only that, but he personally serves them with warmth, grace and lots of food. Support the little guy and say no to dominoes!
I absolutely loved this place, the pizza was great and the rice balls are an absolute MUST. Luigi is hilarious, super cute (you will know him when you see him) and his place is nice. The only thing I wish it had was more professional drinks, right now they just have cans of soda and pitchers of water. I would absolutely recommend this place.
Walk in today for a meal to go. First thing a notice good fragrance of Italian dishes.
Menu good simple dishes at a good price. Order the meal to go. While waiting for the meal had a good glass of wine while talking to the owner and employees. Meanwhile I notice a steady stream of local coming in and sitting down for a good tasting meal.
I'm going to return for another good meal.
I love Luigi spaghetti with meat sauce and the rice balls I don't know what the this guy above is talking about. And his fresh bread is the best
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Time travel back to the 50's. Great food. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. Easy parking. Try it, you'll it, especially the eggplant parmesan.
Hands down the best rice balls in the WORLD ! They are so good an Asian like me will never look at rice and balls the same way ever again ! Crispy n cheesy on the outside, warm and filled with meat on the inside...served on a plate of marinara sauce n beef. Homely lil place that makes u feel like u have a sweet Italian friend who wants to make some incredible food for you at home. Pizzas and chicken parmigiana are averagely good. All in all, would I revisit for the chicken rice balls ? Oh definitely across the mountains and the deep blue sea !
I forgot how much I enjoy Luigi's food. =) Be prepared to wait. Order the rice balls (and have one for me please).
Awesome pizza! It always is delivered hot. The rice balls are addictive. Soo good. A nice little place to dine it. Its not a big fancy chain with over staffed dining area. It definitely has its charm. Pizza is best in area by far.
The folks that work here are really nice, especially Luigi himself. Delicious food and a warm welcome in this restaurant. We also like the take out and delivery options. Thank you, Luigi!
RICE BALLS!! Do not lv this place without trying at least one, you'll be hooked! Loved the chicken parm & "real" Italian food!
Went here with a group of kids and parents after a middle school basketball game. Good choice. Decor is simple and to the point. Nothing fancy there. We let the person at the front know we had a larger group coming and he immediately alerted the folks in back and took care of getting us seated. Off to a good start.
We placed our order and while we were waiting for our pizzas Luigi came out to visit. He spoke to the kids and adults and was as welcoming as could be.
When the pizzas arrived they looked great. The first bite quickly revealed that they tasted great as well. The toppings were perfectly balanced giving a nice ratio of crust to topping. The crust was cooked properly with a little crispness to the bottom. All in all a great pizza. I'll be back although based on what I see in the reviews here I might try some of the other non-pizza items on the menu.
We love this place and everyone in it.......especially Luigi!
There were 9 of us in our group yesterday after a nice hike on Montara Mountain. Everyone thought the food was great! I had the seafood risotto, my wife had the shrimp fettuccine in white sauce and we split a rice ball. Very delish! I think the regular waitress was out so Mr. LUIGI took our orders and made conversation with us, very nice man. I'd like to come back and try the pizza.
I have literally been eating Luigi's food since I was still just a tiny baby in my mothers belly. Every birthday was spent at the Straw Hat off of Westbourough in Daly City that Luigi managed. He actually sold my dad his first pitcher of beer on his 21st birthday. It was a sad time when that place closed. But then years later he opened up another place off of Callan. Then that place closed. Imagine my surprise he opened up Luigi's in Pacifica not 5 minutes from me. Luigi is the absolute best. A kind humble man who lives to serve his customers. And after 38 years he still looks the same!
My favorite place to get dinner in Pacifica. Love their pizza and the spaghetti is delicious!
Reasonable prices, good pizza& DELICIOUS rice balls. If you only get one thing here, definitely try this.
Luigi is the man. For years he has hosted the long term patients of Laguna Honda at his restaurant. Not onky that, but he personally serves them with warmth, grace and lots of food. Support the little guy and say no to dominoes!
The best restaurant i've been to. The food is delicious and the prices are really reasonable. Also the owner is sweet and takes a real interest in each customer.
Best Italian food in town.....
Real good Italian food. I also like there take-out service.....
Great family restaurant
Great pizza, super fast delivery. We love this place. It's a great departure from the chain pizza joints in the area. Luigi used to manage Toto's over the hill and he has brought some of that essence to Pacifica. Don't get me wrong, Toto's is worth the drive but Luigi's is a close second and very convienent. The italian entrees are pretty good too. Familiy friendly atmosphere. Pros: Good food, clean environment, friendly service
Luigi Italian Restaurant
Stepping into this restaurant is like stepping into little Italy! The smell of garlic greets you at the door. They have a wonderful selection of pasta dishes and all of the dishes are prepared very well. The staff is very attentive and services is great.
The price is right. Food at Luigi's is very tasty. they have a wide range of pasta dishes and pizzas. the atmosphere is wonderful and the staff is great.
Great Pizza! and I LOVE the Eggplant too!\r It's about time that Pacifica has a great Italian Restaurant and Great Pizza!
Came here after trying to deal with a nightmare at another restaurant, and, as always, Luigi's delivered. Whether it's pizza or spaghetti, I've never had anything less than a wholly-satisfying meal here, and it's my first choice when it comes to local Italian. A mom-and-pop place that serves great Italian food? Doesn't get much better than that.
This food is darn good! Can't beat the prices either. And Mr. Luigi serving dinner is about the cutest guy ever.
Why the five star rating the People. Its all or mostly about the people.
I have been coming to Luigi's or Luigi's 2 (closed) for 6 years now. Thing's have not changed. Good solid food no fan fare just solid food. Pasta cooked like what you would have done at home. Just that it tastes better than you could cook it and you have to pay the bill after.
The food solid and filling . Nothing to scream about. But good . Pasta could be cooked more al dente but like I was saying it's like home.
You are greeted with a smile and warm feeling like "where have you been ?' type feeling.
Pizza are outstanding thin crust.
Pasta is flavorful and filling.
Salads are tasty.
Desserts are yumm.
Parking is free and easy to find in private lot.
They serve been and wine. I think I counted four different wines and four different beers.
But good enough for pasta night. If you want something else there is a liquor store in the same center. You can even buy your lotto tickets in that store.
Service is great can't wait to come back soon.
Thank you for a wonderful evening.
I dare you to come here and not spot the owner Luigi! If there was a dictionary with a picture of a Luigi, his photo would be right there! And you know what people??? He is Rock & Roll and just an a all around sweet guy.
The food in here is surprisingly good with a price tag that is wallet friendly. You want to impress Luigi, order the rice balls but call them by their real name....(wait for it)....Arancini.
My meal of choice is to start out with the Arancini and then the homemade meat lasagna.
I've known Luigi for a good while now and have brought many friends and dates here to relax and enjoy a couple rice balls. It's been excellent every time. Not much more to say, other than that I recommend Luigi's wholeheartedly!
Awesome friendly environment. Lasagna was delicious and garlic cheesy bread was so good. My son had chicken Alfredo and it was creamy and good ...
The rice balls were hella good. I would go back just for these.
Dinner for my husband's birthday. This was our first time here. It was empty but the place smelled like Nona's kitchen. Luigi himself took us to our table. We ordered the famous rice ball and it lived up to its reputation, delicious! The entrees we ordered were linguini with clams, gnocchi, manicotti, chicken scallopini and chicken pram. All was so good. We will be back to try the other dishes!
Every time I make a trip to the Bay Area I make a special trips to Luigi's. Simple amazing pizza and pasta. Old world simple recipes at thier Finest. I recommend the gnocchi and the Luigi's supreme pizza.
Only downside no fountains drinks just can sodas. But they have yummy wine!
Huge portions. I love the seafood risotto. However, the garlic bread is lifeless and has pretty much no taste. You have to ask for extra garlic. Very family-oriented, and Luigi makes an effort to get to know his customers and serve them. Delivery is free too!
Yes, yes, yes.
Luigi is so sweet. The food at this place is bomb. The rice balls are indomitable. Please do not leave unless you've had at least two rice balls. It is essential.
The cannelloni is delicious as is the meat lasagna. This place is a whole in the wall - it isn't fancy. But the service is wonderful. I patronize this place because it is quaint, inexpensive, and Luigi remembers my family and me every time I come. You can tell he has a passion for what he does. If you are in Pacifica and have a craving for rice balls and a place to pig out without being judged, go to Luigi's.
I've read through a few of these reviews and I can't believe people think a fresh, handmade pizza takes less than half an hour and ding them for it. Or that the little plastic cups for the ranch, or not having fancy wines should detract from this location. If you need to eat this instant, get fast food and don't go and order something that anyone with common sense knows takes a bit of time, then take away stars because you didn't consider this in choosing where you ate. Don't go to a small ma and pa place that you can easily tell before you walk in, isn't a fancy schmancy for the stuck up among us. Not everyone can live up to your impossible expectations. Go to a fancy restaurant if that's what you want. Some of you people just can't be pleased.
BUT, if you are down to earth, enjoy walking into a place that has a homey atmosphere, without the snooty or chain restaurant feel, this is it.
I was visiting from out of town, and with a group. We were looking for a place to eat and several people suggested pizza. All we saw was a round table. They charge way too much for pizza that isn't all that good and we had a big group to feed. So we searched for local places and found Luigi's. They were nearby and had the best ratings.
It's situated in a quaint little shopping center. From outside you could tell it was small and hear happy voices. As soon as you walk in you can tell this is a good place to relax.
They served my beer in a jar! LOL Luigi, bigger than life, full of character and kindness, made the rounds from table to table chatting with everyone. He's such an adorable man. He even knew the small towns we were from and made mention of opening a place there one day. I hope he does. He'd make a killing. They had the best pizza I've ever had. The crust wasn't even greasy. Everyone was so happy being there after a long day. Next time I'm there I'll try the pasta.
And the table next to us? Filled with Italians. You know it's good Italian food if that's where the Italians eat. Well done Mr. Luigi! Don't ever change.
My friend and I were in the area. We were craving something carb heavy and cheesy so we found Luigi's! An old man welcomed us and seated us right away since there weren't a lot of people eating in.
Ambiance: The interior looks like an Italian family's dining room. Seriously, the vibe we felt was like we were eating at my Italian friend's house. It's not very big, but definitely cozy.
Service: After surveying the inside of the restaurant, the old man was back. He introduced himself as Mr. Luigi, the owner. He was super sweet. He recommended us to try the lasagna and his famous rice ball, so that's what we did. He told us that a lot of people rave about those items. He was a great conversationalist and kept my friend and I entertained. The other guys were also nice.
Food: The garlic bread came within 10 minutes and they were warm, perfectly toasted and delicious. The rice ball came next. I was skeptical about this foreign object that was rolling in meat sauce, but when we broke it open and tasted it, it was really good! Nice crispness from the bread crumbs and then good flavor from the meat and rice inside. The chicken parmigiana and lasagna were also delicious. I don't have an Italian grandparent to cook for me, but if I did this is probably how it would taste. It tasted homemade and made with TLC. Although I would say it was a bit pricey.
All in all, a great experience. I recommend you come in and give Luigi's a try. It's pretty legit!
Great family style with authentic personality. Luigi is they guy you want if you had an Italian Grandfather. He is engaging and bursting with personality and friendliness.
A group at another table is speaking Italian and a family across from me Spanish.
Luigi's service is straight forward. The waitress, an older woman had just enough no nonsense sass that I would guess she is the grandma all business to Luigi's conversationalist.
Food was home made not fancy but I was not looking for overpriced food and linens, just lunch.
I haven't seen Luigi in over 20+ years so when I saw him last week in his Pacifica restaurant (previously located in Daly City and I thought he had closed indefinitely) STILL running around taking orders, delivering food, and busing tables, it made my heart smile.
Luigi is well into his 80s (possibly 90s) now and I'm happy to see him still going strong. Sh*t, he moves faster than I do.
Must be dem Italian stallion ballz.
I'm talking about Luigi's infamous Arancini "Rice Balls" that I grew up eating: bit.ly/29hfmgh .
What were YOU thinking about?
( O _o )
*Located in a little plaza, Luigi's is a super old skool and kitschy Italian restaurant serving simple Italian cuisine at cheap prices and large portions. Don't expect Delfina, Beretta, or Cotogna here.
*Luigi is the sweetest old man you'll ever meet and he IS what makes Luigi's..."Luigi's".
*The only thing I can vouch for is his Arancini "Rice Balls" ($2.99 each) which have a crunchy, golden brown crust with a meaty center of beef, onion, and peas. They sit over a bed of tangy, slightly sweet ragu which is filled with even more beef. Simple, deliciously satisfying, and a must order!
--As a side note, while waiting for our order, I saw several pasta plates coming out of the kitchen and I hope they tasted better than they looked.
*The dining area is depressing and run down - like something out of Chef Robert Irvine's Restaurant: Impossible so I personally wouldn't take a date there (we ordered to-go).
*Plenty of free parking.
